MARK MARTIN

2007 POWER RANKINGS LEADER

The 2nd race of the 2007 season is history, the Auto Club 500 at California, and we got to see Matt Kenseth roll to a win. Some familiar names again mad their way to the top of the leader board such as Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson, Jeff Burton and Tony Stewart. Mark Martin continued to look pretty good in his Hendrick powered cars while Dale Earnhardt Jr. continued to struggle out of the gate so far in the 2007 Nextel Cup season.

After the 2nd race of the season, Mark Martin has taken the lead in the 2007 power rankings and also the Nextel Cup point standings. Martin finished 5th at California, his 2nd Top 5 of the season. Jeff Burton moved into 2nd place with his 2nd straight Top 5 finish and Matt Kenseth jumped all the way up to a 2nd place tie after his win in the Auto Club 500. Jeff Gordon climbed to 3rd, while Kevin Harvick fell to 4th after his 17th place finish at California. Last years power rankings winner, Jimmie Johnson, got back on track at California, finishing 3rd and jumped into 5th place in this weeks Power Rankings.

David Ragan fell one spot to 6th while Mike Wallace and Clint Bowyer are tied in the 7th spot.
